Signs of Language Concerns

Delayed speech, no pointing or gestures by 12 months, repeats or echoes sounds, words or phrases, doesn’t speak in two word phrases by 24 months, cannot answer questions by 36 months

Signs of Social Skills Concerns

Prefers to play alone or needs to direct play, does not respond to name, limited eye contact or social smiles, does not imitate play actions, does not show items or share interests by 24 months

Signs of Behavior Concerns

Focused more on parts of a toy or object rather than engaging in functional play (spins wheels, lines up items), significant tantrums (aggression or hitting own head), sensory issues with textures, sounds, or lights, repetitive play actions, flaps hands, walks on toes

Dr. French is a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst- Doctorate Level (BCBA-D) with over 20 years experience, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other developmental and behavioral health challenges.

Amanda Hanstad, AMFT, APCC

Amanda brings a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to her work with children, teens, and adults. Her specialties and passions include values-based goal setting, whole person exploration, neurodivergent-affirming care, and inclusive support for all those navigating key transitional age challenges. Amanda believes in holding and creating space that is empowering and welcoming; where clients feel seen, heard, respected, and supported in their journey.

What can I expect for the evaluation process?

Our medical autism diagnostic evaluations include standardized tests, direct interaction, and observations, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), behavior rating scales, adaptive scales, and records review. All of this information is carefully reviewed and formulated, with diagnostic conclusions and clinical recommendations. All provided in a written report.
